Dak or Defense?

We all saw how good the Dallas Cowboys defense can be in their week 1 destruction of the New York Giants as they pressured Daniel Jones on 1 of every 2 plays. They sacked Jones 7 times, caused a blocked field goal for a score and even won the turnover battle.

But that was just the first game of the season. A game in which Dak Prescott didn't play much of a factor despite throwing for over 100 yards. It was all defense, defense, defense for the Dallas Cowboys in their opening night win.

But owner Jerry Jones had high praise for his quarterback during his weekly remarks on Dallas sports talk radio station 105.3 The Fan. He praised Prescott saying tht he was 'the best leader that I've ever seen at that position.'

Now this will beg the question - What does the D stand for or what should it stand for going forward: Defense or Dak?

In week 1, it was Defense as was evidenced by the defensive domination of the New York Football Giants. But as the season goes along and we get into November/December, close in on the push for the playoffs, the D has to stand for Dak.

Jerry Jones called Dak Prescott the best leader he's ever seen at quarterback. He has faith in Dak. Now Dak has to reward Jones' faith in him with a deep playoff run and that's something he has failed to provide as of yet.

The Dallas defense showed that they are for real in week 1 against the Giants with another test to come in a week 2 match against the Aaron Rodgers-less Jets.

Now it's time for the high-powered Dallas offense to prove themselves. We'll be out of September before we know it. Once the calendar flips, this identity crisis for the Cowboys has to be on the road to being resolved.

So what's the answer, Dallas? Does the D stand for Defense...or Dak?
