BREAKING: Mets Get Their White Whale - David Stearns

After two years of speculation and misfires, it has finally happened with two plus weeks left in baseball's regular season. Per ESPN MLB Insider Jeff Passan, Steve Cohen and the New York Mets have finally gotten the man they've pursued as President of Baseball Operations: Brewers President of Baseball Operations, Long Island native and life-long Mets fan David Stearns.

Stearns brought the Brewers from the proverbial abyss and turned them into perennial contenders in the span of three years and now have made the Brewers a force within the NL Central. He also helped turn the Houston Astros from laughing stock of the AL West into powerhouses.

He now brings that proven track record to a team that desperately needs a spark in the New York Mets. After having gone through three General Managers in now three seasons under owner Steve Cohen, subpar seasons and a short stint in the 2022 Postseason where they were soundly bounced by the Padres in the NL Wild Card Series, Stearns will come in looking to finally shape the Mets into Steve Cohen's image of what he calls 'Dodgers East' - a team built to contend not just now but many, many years into the future.

Stearns will look to bring in his own personnel, including current Brewers manager and Arizona Diamondbacks great Craig Counsell. This would leave current Mets bench boss Buck Showalter on the chopping block.

But what of current Mets GM Billy Eppler, you may ask? That's for Stearns to decide when he comes in after the season ends.

All in all, it's the dawn of a new era in Queens and to pull from the playbook of Taylor Alison Swift - it's the Mets 'Reputation' era beginning with the hiring of David Stearns.
