Rams Throw Pirates Overboard

The Rams faced their Colonial Valley Conference rivals in the West Windsor-Plainsboro South Pirates on Saturday at Hightstown High School as they looked to rebound from a 1-2 road swing that saw them get outscored by over 30 points per game. The glaring problem for the Rams in that 3-game stretch – turnovers. They were not taking care of the ball and making the most of every possession. They found themselves back on their home floor looking to rectify that issue against a conference rival. For WW-P South, it was their first game against their conference rival Hightstown. They came in at 5-5 and looked to make a statement. South got out to a 6-point lead after 1, but the Rams got behind their stars, started boxing out and took better care of the ball than they did during their road trip. The Rams turned it on in the 2nd half, taking a 4-point halftime deficit into a 6-point lead. South got to within 2 at one point, but a late surge by the Rams put the game on ice as Hightstown starts their 4-game homestand with a 54-46 victory over the rival Southern Pirates. Rams continue their home stretch with Hopewell Valley Central, Shore Regional and finish up against Hamilton West before hitting the road to face the Pirates for the 2nd and final meeting of the season between the rival schools on January 28th.
