RAMS' SEASON CLOSES IN ROUGH WAY VS. ST. MARY

Ever heard the Beatles’ hit song ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’? Well on Thursday night, the Rams had a song titled ‘Can’t Buy Me Buckets’ as they looked to close out their season on a high note against the Lions of Mount St. Mary’s Academy out of Watchung.

The Rams started off okay, only down 11-4 after 1. After that, the buckets became rarer than vowels on the popular TV game show ‘Wheel of Fortune’ – the Rams just couldn’t buy a bucket. Their shooters went cold, they couldn’t take care of the ball as they committed costly turnovers and they were falling victim to a favorite tactic of the New Jersey Devils: the trap.

The Rams found themselves down 22-10 at the break and the nosedive just continued from there as they found themselves down by 24 at one point. Sure, they played tough throughout, but they just couldn’t make the adjustments that they needed to and the buckets came at more of a premium for the Rams as they fell in their final game by a 53-30 final to drop to 11-12 on the season.

Now comes a look ahead to the crack of the bat and the pop of the leather as softball season approaches and the Rams look to defend their miracle state title from a year ago.
