HARVICK THE BOUNTY HUNTER
Former Cup Series champion teams with Gander Outdoors
CEO to put bounty on Kyle Busch
After Kyle Busch won yet
another Truck Series race Friday night in Vegas, Kevin Harvick put his
promotional skills to the test as he put up a $50,000 bounty for any full-time
Cup Series driver who can drive a truck and defeat Kyle Busch in any of his
remaining 4 Truck Series events (March 14 at Atlanta, March 20th at
Homestead, March 27th at Texas and May 30th at Kansas).
Marcus Lemonis, CEO of Truck Series title sponsor Gander RV & Outdoors, was
quick to throw his hat into the ring and put up another $50,000, making for a
$100,000 bounty for any full time Cup Series driver to step into a truck and
take down Kyle Busch.
There’s but one catch, though…you
can’t wreck him. So, sorry, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., you must race him clean.
Obviously, Kyle Busch,
the target of the bounty…was not amused. “Put money on a bounty on somebody and
bad things tend to happen,” Busch said at a press conference at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway before Saturday’s Boyd Gaming 300.
Marcus Lemonis, on the
other hand, wasn’t done. Saturday night, he tweeted that if Fox moved any of
the Truck Series events to prime time, he’d increase the purse among the top 5
finishers to $250,000!
So, what’s in it for
Busch, you may be asking? Well, if no one can take him down, the $100,000 will
be donated the Bundle of Joy Fund – the organization set up by Kyle Busch and
his wife Samantha that helps couples who are having trouble conceiving.
If you thought that
putting a bounty on someone was dead following the Sean Payton Bounty-gate
scandal…you’ve just been proven wrong!
GAME ON!
