Is Daniel Jones All That?

Image
This past Tuesday, it was announced that Daniel Jones, the Giants’ 6 th overall pick in April’s NFL Draft, would start at QB in place of Eli Manning. On Sunday, he lined up under center against Tampa Bay and we all got a glimpse of the Giants’ future. Jones quickly shook off the nerves, going 23/36 for 336 yards with 4 touchdowns. He also showed his mobility, carrying the ball 4 times for 28 yards and accounting for 2 of the 4 touchdowns. Best of all...ZERO PICKS! The question – is Daniel Jones really all that? Is he really Eli Manning’s successor? Well, after watching Jones’ performance, I can tell you that my reservations about Jones have flown out the window. He is the next great Giants quarterback. He reminded me of Eli in his prime – a man who can find open targets, buy time for himself, escape pressure and even take the ball for himself every now and then. Jones even proved that he can come through in the clutch as he orchestrated the game-winning drive for the Giants in t...

2019 NASCAR Chase Preview - Round 1

Image
NASCAR’s Chase for the Championship begins September 15 th at Las Vegas with the South Point Casino 400. In Round 1 – the Challenger Round – 3 tracks await 16 drivers: Las Vegas, Richmond and the Charlotte ROVAL. Let’s preview each of those races right now. 1.      South Point Casino 400 – Las Vegas Motor Speedway: 7:30 PM Eastern, NBCSN Kevin Harvick won the spring race here and is an odds-on favorite to claim the checkers here again this time. But watch for Truex to recapture his 2017 magic on the 1.5-mile tracks. Also, don’t count out the 9 team of Chase Elliott or the 18 of Kyle Busch. My expert prediction – you can’t go wrong with Truex on the 1.5-mile tracks. Truex punches his ticket to the Contender Round right away. Chaser Running Order – Vegas: Truex (Winner), Harvick (2 nd ), Kyle Busch (3 rd ), Elliott (5 th ), Bowman (6 th ), Hamlin (7 th ), Newman (8 th ), Larson (10 th ), Kurt Busch (11 th ), Logano (12 th ), Keselowski (13 th ), Bo...

2019-20 NFL Preview

Image
The NFL’s centennial season begins September 5 th and with any season, there’s changes. But one thing that hasn’t changed is that the New England Patriots are favored to make it back to the Super Bowl in Miami this February. But will they raise their 7 th Lombardi Trophy in the Brady/Belichick era? Let’s get to the projections! NFC East: Philadelphia Eagles 2018-19 Record: 9-7 Playoff Result: Lost in Divisional Round to New Orleans Assessment: 2 of their backup QBs went down during the preseason, forcing the Birds to sign Josh McCown until Nate Sudfeld recovers. Other than that, the group remains largely the same, save for a bolstered O-Line and receiving corps that should help QB Carson Wentz improve mightily on a somewhat mediocre 2018-19 season. If Wentz remains healthy, expect at least 10 wins for the Eagles this season. Projected Record: 11-5 Projected Playoff Result: Lose Divisional Round to New Orleans Dallas Cowboys 2018-19 Record: 10-6 P...
